Avoid mental efforts. Purposefully mentally working on something like adding items to your grocery list (or anything else) while doing this, will cause it to fail. This is not a time to do a lot of thinking.
Just sit back and listen passively. You might hear everything that is said or your mind might wonder. A lot of it does not make sense, just go with the flow.
